In the summer of 2019 I took a trip to Europe and Switzerland was one of the spots. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I can tell you, I was BLOWN AWAY! If you’re planning a trip to Europe, you HAVE TO visit Switzerland. My experience with Switzerland was amazing and I would LOVE to go back! Here’s why!

We embarked from Paris, France to Interlaken, Switzerland on a train
I remember getting closer and closer to our destination and seeing Jungfrau for the first time. We still had a ways to go but I could see it in the far distance. This monstrous-looking mass of land reaching high in the sky… something I had never seen before. The extreme terrain of the Swiss Alps was unlike any other place I’ve ever been; which is why it caught me off guard. My first impression was nothing but wonder and awe.
I remember pulling up and saying to myself this is it, we made it. My excitement could no longer be contained because I COULD NOT WAIT to spend the next three days with my head up looking at the mountain tops. I’m honestly surprised that I didn’t break my neck from gazing towards the sky 24/7. It was worth it, though. Switzerland was a dream, it truly was.
My initial reaction was this is Christmas in a nutshell. Now I’m sure that no normal person would think this way, considering that IT WAS JULY. Also, I am a big fan of the Christmas season. But that’s beside the point. My point is the railroads poking in and out of mountains through various tunnels, the “village” (city) of Interlaken, the high spirits, and of course, the snow made me wonder how insane it must look in the winter. I bet it looks like the North Pole, haha.
When we arrived at our place later that day I FINALLY had the chance to take a look at the view from up above. Again… it was amazing. I can’t wrap my head around it; I still can’t believe it to this day. The first thing that I noticed was the water. The most perfect hue of blue glistened down beneath me. The color was so vibrant… I can’t get over it! Absolutely stunning. Not to mention how fresh and pure drinking water tasted. Straight from the tap, you had the most natural and clean water you could find… tasting completely chemical-free! From where I live we don’t really get the greatest tasting tap water, which is why I was blown away at the water from Switzerland.

We continued our trip with a longgg hike. For any of you that were wondering, we hiked the Blumental Panorama Trail . After arriving in Lauterbrunnen by train, we took a cable car to Murren! The trail begins in Murren and ends in Schilthorn. We made the most out of our hike, taking in the beauty with every little detail. And although it says that you can complete it in approximately 1.5 hours, our hike most definitely took over 2 hours. I mean… what can I say when there are so many great places for picture taking! The backgrounds in my pictures did not seem real. For example…
I witnessed the beauty of Switzerland at it’s finest… something that I’ll cherish forever. It felt great to be so connected to nature on that measure. That hike was really incredible to witness. I could see the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger on the other side of the valley; along with many glaciers and ice patches. There were so many wildflowers as well!
Very inspiring. Breathtaking. Exhilarating. That hike was the most beautiful, relaxing, down to earth place.
Side Note: Afterward, I tried Gugelhupf. It was very weird (haha), but I liked it! I also tried a crepe… but not with Nutella… with Lindt chocolate! The lady got offended when we ordered crepes with Nutella because in Switzerland their specialty is Lindt chocolate. The crepe was phenomenal!

Just when I thought our trip couldn’t get any better… we fulfilled our day with last-minute hang gliding! There was nothing but joy and laughter. If you have the chance, I highly recommend doing it. There are not many places in the world where you can go hang gliding without any sort of permit, and Switzerland is one of the places that YOU CAN. We hang glided through Hang Gliding Interlaken.
I got a fantastic look at the alps from a whole other perspective! I’m so thankful for that experience… the most breathtaking view over the Swiss Alps. Many people would say: you’re crazy, I would never do that in my life! You never know until you try! SO TRY IT! I found the flight more relaxing than frightful. I’m telling you, the view will completely take your mind off of any sort of fear that you have. This made my experience with Switzerland a million times better.
Nothing would be complete if I didn’t mention Swiss cheese… I had it in every single one of my meals. They always find ways to sneak it in there. I’m not complaining, though!
Overall, that was the trip of a lifetime! Switzerland was a BLAST. Next time I go back, I would LOVE to ski. If you’re planning a trip to Europe, you HAVE TO visit Switzerland. Not gonna lie, it wasn’t one of the places on my bucket list that I wanted to go to. When I found out I was going there, I had no idea what to expect! I am forever grateful that I DID go there and I would 100% GO BACK because my experience with Switzerland was incredible! I would never get bored there because there’s always something to do!
Pin it for later!
