I’m sure most of you are in quarantine and maybe have a lot of free time on your hands. Now’s the perfect chance to try something new or do something you never would’ve done because you didn’t have the chance!
This whole staying at our homes thing doesn’t have to be so bad. Take the much needed time to focus on YOU because we might never get this time again… which is why I’ve made a list of ways that I’ve chosen to spend my time in quarantine, and ideas that I’m planning to try myself!
I hope you find inspiration from this, and maybe even try some of these ideas!
Draw with Chalk
It doesn’t matter who you’re quarantined with… go outside with them and have fun with chalk! With chalk, you can do pretty much anything. Whether it’s simply drawing pictures, making an “obstacle course”, or playing games like foursquare, you could spend hours and never get bored. Plus, getting outside during a time like this is great for anyone… just remember to social distance yourself!
You can draw…
- A flower
- A sun
- A ladybug
- Your name… but get creative!
- A heart
- A rainbow
Don’t feel like drawing? Make up your very own game!
Bake or Cook a New Recipe
Trust me, I am not the sort of person who is gifted in cooking good meals. But, I have managed to find ways to have fun with it… besides who doesn’t love eating? Haha. There’s a ton of easy recipes that you can find online. Anyone, even myself, can do it!
Go surprise your family, or even just yourself, with your super cool new cooking skills!
Make Your Own Playlist
I don’t know about you, but I have a playlist for every single one of my moods. Working out, throwback, country, in my feels… you name it and I have it! Let me tell you, there’s nothing better than some good music; especially when you can relate the lyrics to how you’re feeling… hmmm sounds like another blog post for another time.
Try making a playlist, or maybe even a few more, for yourself. You’ll thank yourself later!
While you’re at it check out our post with 150+ country songs that YOU can add to your playlist!
There are countless FREE at-home workouts that you can try during your time in quarantine! Even better, you can challenge yourself to a variety of daily workout challenges. Getting some exercise is a great way to spice up your day, and you’ll always feel good after completing it. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing progress along the way!
I highly recommend Chloe Ting’s free workouts for the following reasons:
- I’m currently doing her Two Weeks Shred challenge, and I already notice a major difference in the way my body looks and feels
- The workouts have gotten A LOT easier
- My body feels 10x better and fully energized to go on with my day
- I’ve automatically been eating healthier
- I love challenging myself
- She includes modified versions of her exercises for those who want a lower impact
You should definitely go check her out, she’s awesome!
At the moment, I’m growing miniature sunflowers! I have never actually grown a plant myself before, so I’ve been getting overly excited at every little milestone. Right now, they’re starting to sprout; and I’ve never felt more accomplished in my life! I just can’t wait ‘till the day that they blossom… sunflowers are so pretty.
Growing these sunflowers gives me something to look forward to every day… I’m constantly checking to see the progress, and I absolutely love it. I made it even more personal by naming them too. Haha.
Watching a plant grow may bring you joy like it does for me, but there are so many other benefits to having a plant in your home!
Look Through an Old Photoalbum
Feeling nostalgic? Reminisce on all of the good times and enjoy the memories you’ve made. It’s nice to give yourself a little refresher of the past… you’d be surprised at the things you forgot about.
Not to mention, looking through an old photo album may be a great conversation starter for you and the people you love! Truly heartwarming.

Bingewatch on Netflix
Whether it’s an old-time movie you love or a show you’ve been wanting to watch, Netflix is where it’s at. We’re all guilty of binge-watching for hours on end… But it’s honestly so worth it! Times, where you can absolutely sit back and relax, is much needed.
As many already know, season 2 of All American recently came out and it’s so good! 10/10 would recommend that show and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t seen it before.
The Office is also good for when you need a laugh or for when you need something to lift your spirits… love that show.
NOW all you need to do is grab a bowl of popcorn, put on comfy pajamas, and dive into something good to watch!

Create a Blog
It’s as simple as that! Try making your very own blog to express yourself… it could be lifestyle, travel, fashion, cooking, or whatever else is in your interest. The fun part is that you get to design it however you want, and who knows, maybe you’ll end up liking the whole blogging idea. Now with all of this extra time, you may have on your hands, what a perfect time to start one. You’ll never know unless you try!
Develop some pictures on your phone
Nowadays with easily-accessible photo access, it seems like everyone overlooks the blessing to print pictures. Let’s be real, nothing compares to a photo that you can feel in your hands… so genuine and simple. It’s even better having the option to hang a picture on the wall for you to look at and admire every day, without the assistance of your phone screen.
…which brings me to my final idea.
There’s a ton of different ways that you can get crafty… as long as you put your mind to it, you can create an endless amount of things! Homemade crafts are always the most special. Here are some ideas for your inspiration off the top of my head.
- Make a photo collage on your wall
- Paint a canvas… or get even more creative and paint CDs
- Paint on your own wall.. Get some different colored paints, splatter it on, and see what happens!
- Try knitting
- Upcycle your recyclables
- Make a homemade face mask
Bonus: Go on a Walk
I’d say that this one is the most beneficial of them all. Take a moment to look all over at the beautiful nature around you. It’s amazing to witness the world… especially now when it’s all slowed down. Make some time in your day to just get out and take in the sights, smells, sounds… while avoiding being near others, of course! Taking a walk is so simple, and yet, the best thing you could do for yourself!
You could always make it more fun by adding in little games, such as a scavenger hunt!
